Williams. The

I forward 2 letters from Hr.

first 'A' refers to ty letter marked A-1 and the bill marked

A-2 on this file. Mr. Williams states that "the balance refer-

-red to viz.:- $80 is a personal account". This refers to A-2 balance $82.93. Having regard to the nature of the items this seems improbable, but anyhow Mr. Williams has not paid it. He appears to intend to make some sort of counter claim. I have

seen Messrs. Brewer who assert emphatically that the goods were supplied to the Victoria School. But if Mr. Williams pays

we need trouble ourselves no further in the matter.

Mr. Williams apparently intends to con-

-municate again with the Colonial Secretary's Office with the intention of proving that I made false statements about him

actuated by personal ill-will. I trust that he may be called

upon to do so without delay.

The second letter marked B. Mr. Williams

says that these items are also for his private account, and have

been paid for. He does not say whether he holds a receipt. I

do not know how these vouchers came to be presented at the Office, as they came in after I left. I observe that Mr. Willi- -ams states that they were "unnecessarily submitted to cause

misapprehension”.
